Housing Authority of the County of Kern

Scholarship Awards Program

Each year, the Housing Authority funds the Scholarship Awards Program through its discretionary funds. Since 2013, the Housing Authority expanded the program to all eligible Housing Authority residents and Section 8 participants thanks to the yearly contribution of the Housing & Opportunity Foundation of Kern. Applications for the Scholarship Awards Program are made available in January of each year; we are not accepting applications at this time.  These scholarships are to assist students with college, technical/trade school expenses for books, tuition, fees, transportation, etc. Students of any age may apply.

Qualification Requirements:

  • To be eligible to receive a scholarship, students must reside in a development managed by the Housing Authority of the County of Kern or be a participant of the Section 8 program.
  • Students must be accepted for attendance at a college, technical/trade school or already be attending college, technical/trade school and submit proof of enrollment.
  • Complete and submit a Housing Authority scholarship application with 2 letters of recommendation & transcripts.
